On Saturday 5 December at 10:30pm, ABC Classic FM's New Music Up Late will broadcast the final concert of MODART09, featuring new works by the nine young composers who participated in the MODART composer development project during the first half of this year. The project culminated in two concerts, organised in Melbourne and in Sydney in July. The world premieres were Alexandra Hay's (NZ) Dream Logic, Amy Bastow's 'It's Organic...With Soy', Mark Oliviero's - DOA, Melody Eötvös's The Intoxicated Poet, Lachlan Skipworth's Aida, King Pan Ng's (Hong Kong) With Empty Hands, Anthony Leigh Dunstan's Thin Skin, Rae Howell's Goodness Gracious! and James Rushford's Mirrors.

The program will also feature interviews with the artists about the works, about writing for voice and the MODART workshop process. Some interviews will also be included in the Classic FM Australian Music Unit's podcast series.

MODART is a biennial program, initiated by The Song Company and the Australian Music Centre. It provides opportunities for emerging composers to develop new work for voices.
