ISCM World Music Days 2010 - call for works

ISCM World Music Days 2010 - call for works

(Update 21 May: instructions regarding individual submissions and payment added)

The International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) is currently seeking works for its 10-day event in Sydney, Australia from 30 April to 9 May 2010. This will be the first time for this prestigious event to be organised on the Southern Hemisphere. The ISCM is an important international network of members from 52 countries, devoted to the promotion and presentation of contemporary music.

The 2010 ISCM World Music Days will be presented in cooperation between the Aurora Festival and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. During the Festival, over 150 compositions from over 50 countries will be showcased across 24 concerts. In addition, the Festival will present music from the Asia-Pacific region, educational seminars and symposiums. The theme for the Festival is ‘Living Performers - Living Composers - Living Music’. Selected submissions will be played by Australia's top performers - both established ensembles and emerging artists, within the overall focus on chamber and choral music.

Submitting through the Australian section

As the Australian section of the ISCM, the Australian Music Centre is calling for works to include in their national submission. The deadline for the Australian Section is 30 June 2009. The section will select six works for consideration by the 2010 ISCM World New Music Days Selection Jury.

Sections may not include works by composers whose pieces have been performed or programmed at either the 2008 or 2009 ISCM World Music Days or included in that section’s official selection for the 2009 ISCM World Music Days.

For work categories available and all details regarding submission materials, please follow this link.

Submissions to the Australian section should be sent by 30 June (postmark) in hard copy or emailed (PDFs/mp3, max 20MB) to: Philippa Horn, Australian Music Centre, PO Box N690 Grosvenor Place, NSW 1220. Email: p.horn@australianmusiccentre.com.au. Phone: (02) 9247 4677.

The preferred means of submission is through the national section of each country. Individual artists whose work has not been selected by the section may also submit directly to ISCM - for details, see below.

Individual submissions

Artists whose work has not been selected by the national section may also submit directly to ISCM. Deadline for individual submissions is 31 July 2009.

These submissions may be sent digitally (PDFs/mp3, max 20MB) to submissions@aurorafestival.com.au or in hard copy to Australian Music Centre, ISCM submissions, PO Box N690 Grosvenor Place, NSW 1220.

For individual submissions, an entry fee of 50 Euros is payable, preferably by credit card, by 31 July - for instructions on how to pay, see the ISCM website. Please send a proof of payment of the entry fee with your submission, and a copy to ISCM as instructed on the website.
