ISCM World New Music Days 2021 in China - call for works

The ISCM World New Music Days 2021 will take place in Shanghai and Nanning, China, on 17-25 September 2021.

As the Australian section of the ISCM, the Australian Music Centre is looking for works to include in their official submission. The AMC will convene a panel who will select six works for consideration by the ISCM festival jury. At least one work from every official submission will be performed at the festival. Preference will be given to shorter compositions, and to pieces composed after 2012.

Submissions to the Australian section should be sent to the AMC by 9am AEDT on Monday 1 February 2021 by email. For all categories, please study carefully the information on the ISCM website. Works that do not conform with the category requirements in regard to instrumentation or duration will not be considered. For a list of required attachments, see below.

For email submissions, please include the required information (biography, technical rider, program note etc.) in one or more text documents (.doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .txt formats) and NOT in the body of your email submission. Do not submit .pages format files.

A dropbox link is preferred for large attachments and must be supplied if the combined size of files exceeds 9MB.

Submissions to the AMC should include:

1.) The composer's personal and contact information: Given names; Family name; Name as it should appear in the program; Date of birth; Mailing address; Gender; Phone no.; email address; website (if applicable).

2.) Work information: Title; Submission Category; Accurate duration; Year of composition; Statement of whether the work has been previously performed.

3.) The score (.pdf document preferred), or audio/video documentation if the work does not have a written score - as described in the work categories.

4.) An audio or video recording of the work (if available).

5.) Program note for the submitted work in English (maximum 100 words).

6.) Technical rider specifying all equipment necessary to perform the work.

7.) Short biography of the composer in English (maximum 100 words).

8.) High-resolution digital photograph of the composer.

Individual artists whose work does not get selected by the section may also submit directly. An entry fee of €53.05 applies to Individual Submissions, payable at the time of submission by PayPal through the ISCM website. Deadline for these individual submissions is 16 March 2021. The submissions wizard will be available on the ISCM website from 18 January.
