Grammy nomination for Tim Davies

Composer and conductor Tim Davies has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for his piece Counting to Infinity. Grammy Awards are presented annually in the USA for outstanding achievements in the music industry.

Tim Davies was born in Brisbane in 1972. He studied percussion and composition at the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane, and composition at the Elder Conservatorium and the University of Melbourne. For some years now, Davies has been based in Los Angeles, where he has worked as conductor, arranger and orchestrator. Since 2000, Davies has led a big band featuring top session and touring players. The band's first album, Epic, was released in 2003 and a new album, Dialmentia (Origin Records), in 2009.

Grammy Awards ceremony, organised by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, will take place on 31 January 2010. The Grammy-nominated piece Counting to Infinity can be heard in its entirety on the Tim Davies Big Band website.
