Current opportunities for female composers

Ensemble Offspring's Noisy Women opportunity is open for submissions, with the deadline for applications on 12 October. Sydney Conservatorium's Sue W Chamber Music Composition Prize is open for applications until 25 January 2019.

Noisy Women Commission

Submissions are open for Ensemble Offspring's Noisy Women commission for emerging Australian female composers - applications for this opportunity are due by 12 October. The commission is designed to provide significant creative freedom to an emerging composer, foster her artistic development throughout the year and provide an opportunity for the new work to be workshopped closely with members of Ensemble Offspring and presented in a high-profile concert. The value of the prize is a $3,500 cash commission fee, two workshop sessions with Ensemble Offspring and professional documentation of the premiere. The work can be up to 12 minutes in length and should be for the combination of flute, clarinet, percussion, piano, violin and cello, or an agreed subset thereof. Use of electronics and multimedia can be discussed.

The new work will be workshopped in 2019 and performed in 2020 by Ensemble Offspring, as part of their ongoing celebration and support of female composers.

> Applications close at midnight AEDST on Friday 12 October. Details and online applications.
