The Australian Music Centre has today announced Catherine Haridy as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Melbourne-based Haridy is a respected and passionate artist advocate with considerable experience in business management, policy and advocacy. She will take on the role from 1 July, following the departure of AMC's CEO John Davis after a remarkable 32-year tenure.

Announcing the appointment on Friday, the AMC's Chair Genevieve Lacey commented,

'We are rapt that Catherine Haridy will lead the Australian Music Centre into its next phase. She is a highly strategic thinker, an experienced leader and a creative manager with exceptional communication skills. Her deep knowledge of the music sector and outstanding track record of creating sustainable careers for artists will be invaluable to the AMC and the community we serve.'

An active and influential leader in the Australian music sector, Haridy has significant experience in artist management, both through her own company and as the Executive Director of the Association of Artists Managers. In the latter capacity she recently met with the Prime Minister, Treasurer and Minister for the Arts as part of a high-level delegation, advocating for a targeted program of support for the music sector.

Named last year as one of the most influential people in Australian music, Haridy is also a current board member of Music Victoria, and a Patron of the Australian Music Prize. Previously she has held board roles with Support Act and the Community Broadcasting Foundation.

'I am thrilled to join the Australian Music Centre, an organisation that has, since its establishment in 1975, provided essential support to the artistic community and actively promoted the centrality of Australian music to our evolving national identity', Haridy said.

'It is no secret that our sector has been deeply challenged by the uncertainty and disruption of the past year. The AMC has a critical role in promoting the sector's recovery by providing both tangible service outcomes and strong advocacy, and I am excited to contribute to that mission working closely with AMC's members and key stakeholders.'

The AMC's Board and Staff extend a warm welcome to Catherine and look forward to continuing our work for Australian music under her leadership.
