Art Music Awards: record number of nominations lodged

The 2011 Art Music Awards, presented by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australian Music Centre, have attracted a record number of about 200 entries from AMC and APRA members. This is an amazing achievement, with many new nominations for the two new 'Experimental' and 'Jazz' categories and the individual 'Works of the Year' categories. We are presently convening judging panels to begin the assessment of nominations. Announcements will be made in the lead-up to the awards event, to be held at the Sydney Theatre on Tuesday 3 May.

The Australian Music Centre connects people around the world to Australian composers and sound artists. By facilitating the performance, awareness and appreciation of music by these creative artists, it aims to increase their profile and the sustainability of their art form. Established in 1974, the AMC is now the leading provider of information, resources, materials and products relating to Australian new music.
