A new digital kit from the AMC: Nadje Noordhuis - 'Water Crossing' and other works
A new digital education resource Nadje Noordhuis - 'Water Crossing' and other works is now available from the AMC. Based on music by the New York-based composer and trumpeter, activities in this kit develop students' critical listening skills through theory questions that discuss tone colour, timbre, structure, rhythmic patterns, and the blending of music from different cultures. Composition tasks put into practice a variety of techniques utilised by Noordhuis. The kit has been prepared for students studying the NSW Higher School Certificate unit Music of the Last 25 Years (Australian Focus) but it will also be of interest to senior high school students and their teachers in other states.
This kit has been prepared by Noordhuis in collaboration with Dennielle Woskanian, an educator with over 20 years' experience, and music teacher & deputy principal at Killarney Heights High School, Sydney. An earlier version of the resource has been in use at Killarney Heights High School and Arden Anglican School in Sydney, and De La Salle College in Melbourne.
The kit is accompanied by three ePDF scores. The digital album Nadje Noordhuis, available separately via Bandcamp, forms an integral part of this resource.
