2022 APRA Professional Development Awards - applications are now open

APRA AMCOS has announced the return of the APRA Professional Development Awards, a career-boosting opportunity now available annually for emerging composers and songwriters. In 2022, ten individual winners will each take home $10,000 cash and a prize from the Australis Music Group.

The Smugglers of Light Foundation Music and Media Award also returns in 2022 to provide an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander music or media practitioner with a grant of $10,000, as well as a prize from Australis Music.

Applicants need to choose one of the following categories: Popular Contemporary (two awards covering Pop, Rock, Alternative, Blues, Roots, Folk, Metal, Christian and Children's music); Country/Americana; Jazz & Improvised Music; Classical & Experimental; Dance/Electronic; Hip Hop/Rap/R&B/Soul; Film and Television/Gaming; Music Theatre (workshop funding only); Smugglers of Light Foundation Music and Media Award.

The Australian Music Centre is one of APRA's partner organisations for the 2022 Professional Development Awards categories 'Classical & Experimental' and 'Jazz & Improvised Music'.

Applications for the 2022 APRA Professional Development Awards close at 5pm AEDT on Thursday 18 November 2021.
