2021 ARIA Awards - nominees announced

Nat Bartsch's album Hope (ABC Classic) has been nominated for an ARIA Award in the Best Classical Album category, along with recorder player Genevieve Lacey and harpist Marshall McGuire's album Bower (ABC Classic), featuring music by Lou Bennett, Andrea Keller, John Rodgers, Lachlan Skipworth and Bree van Reyk, among others. Nominated in this category were also the Grigoryan Brothers with their This Is Us - a Musical Reflection of Australia (ABC Classic); Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's Four Seasons (Decca), featuring Christian Li; the Nocturnes album by Emily Sun and Andrea Lam (ABC Classic).

Nominees for Best Jazz Album include the Art Music Award-winning project Closed Beginnings by Australian Art Orchestra, Reuben Lewis, Tariro Mavondo & Peter Knight (AAO); The Sacred Key by Vazesh (Hamed Sadeghi, Jeremy Rose and Lloyd Swanton - Earshift Music); Haven by Kristen Berardi, Sean Foran & Rafael Karlen (Earshift); Automatic by Mildlife (Inertia); and Songs from my Father by Petra Haden and the Nick Haywood Quintet (ABC Jazz).

AMC-represented Sadeghi and his music are also featured on the Project Masnavi by Eishan Ensemble (Earshift Music), nominated for the Best World Music Album, along with albums by Joseph Tawadros, Bukhu Ganburged, Bob Weatherall & Halfway with William Barton; and Kuya James.

Soundtrack/Musical Theatre nominees include Season 1 soundtrack for the TV series Wakefield, featuring music by Caitlin Yeo, Maria Alfonsine and Damian de Boos-Smith.

Nominees for the Best Children's Album include projects with excellent Australian original and traditional music, including The Moon, The Mouse & The Frog: Lullabies from Northern Australia; and Bluey the Album.

Nominees for the Telstra ARIA Music Teacher Award are Aaron Silver (Wodonga Primary School, Victoria); Ashley Baxter (Pimlico State High School, Townsville, Queensland); Daniel Wilson (Star Struck, Newcastle, NSW); and Zoƫ Barry (Sacred Heart School, Melbourne, Victoria).
