2019 Melbourne Prize for Music to Deborah Cheetham

AMC-represented artists Deborah Cheetham AO and Andrea Keller are among the 2019 Melbourne Prize winners, as announced on Wednesday evening at the awards ceremony held at Melbourne's Federation Square.

Yorta Yorta composer, soprano Deborah Cheetham was awarded the substantial $60,000 Melbourne Prize for Music 2019 as 'an outstanding Victorian musician whose work demonstrates exceptional musicianship, skill and creativity'. Composer and pianist Andrea Keller was announced as the recipient of the $12,500 Beleura Emerging Composers Award 2019 to commission work to further develop her career.

Improviser, performer and composer Erkki Veltheim was awarded the $20,000 Distinguished Musicians Fellowship 2019, which includes a commercial engagement with the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. The $18,500 Development Award 2019 went to vocalist and songwriter Mojo Juju.
