2015 Art Music Awards - performers and presenters

Details of performers and presenters at the 2015 Art Music Awards ceremony have been announced.

Presenters will include barrister, human rights advocate and philanthropist Julian Burnside QC; the director of the 2015 Sydney Festival Lieven Bertels; the CEO of the Australia Council for the Arts, Tony Grybowski; the National Library of Australia Senior Curator Robyn Holmes; and jazz pianist and composer Barney McAll, the current resident of the Peggy Glanville-Hicks House.

Recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey has curated a program of performances, including an excerpt of Iain Grandage and Alison Croggon's opera The Riders, and an excerpt of Damian Barbeler's work The Shadow Box, shortlisted for this year's Awards, performed by accordionist James Crabb together with the composer. The Sydney Children's Choir will be joined on stage by conductor Matthew Winnel and pianist Sally Whitwell to perform Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttall's Our Song, arranged by composer Dan Walker, and the work Rain Dream by another 2015 finalist, Joseph Twist. Trumpeter Phil Slater will perform his composition The Cutting and The Shrine, joined onstage by drummer Simon Barker and Carl Dewhurst on guitar. Directed by Patrick Nolan, the performance will feature the dancer-choreographer Kathryn Puie and video design by Andrew Wholley.

Also announced today was the name of the recipient of the 2015 Award for Distinguished Services to Australian Music: Larry Sitsky. Read about this announcement and find out more about this year's finalists.

The 2015 Art Music Awards will be hosted by Fenella Kernebone on Tuesday 11 August at the City Recital Hall in Sydney. The Art Music Awards are presented each year by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australian Music Centre to recognise achievement in the composition, performance, education and presentation of Australian music.
