Work Overview

The title 'Soundscapes and Omens' alludes to the procession of scenic aural vistas and ominous undertones that characterise the work. At times, the soundcapes are static; at other times, they build powerfully, prescient of something firghtening about to happen. The work buidls through a process of widening pitch intervals beginning with semitone clusters built around pivotal pitch centres. The work was composed in 1998 and revised in 2019.
