Work Overview

The title Déjà Vu refers to the way the materials of the piece develop and recur. At times, there is a feeling of a half-remembered memory or lingering subconscious thoughts. Another aspect of déjà vu is the brief refererences to two other pieces for flute that were performed on the same program of the premiere performance of this piece (J.S. Bach's E Minor Sonata and Reinecke's 'Undine' Sonata). Thus, Déjà Vu created a connection between the main peices on the program. The concept of 'connectedness' is a major theme in my compositions.
